美国最高法院今天裁定允许美国总统川普终止给予海地人和叙利亚人的“临时保护身份”，这项措施是保护逃离战争或天灾而来美国的外国人暂免遭遣返，这类人口可能达数百万。

美国有线电视新闻网（CNN）报导，川普（Donald Trump）重返白宫后，美国最高法院面临数项移民相关案件审理，其中最重要包括与“临时保护身份”（Temporary Protected Status，TPS）有关案件。川普政府为打击移民，已尝试撤销10多国人民的TPS。

今天的裁决意味，多达35万名海地人和6000名叙利亚人原本在美国合法居留，如今恐怕将失去工作及续留许可，除非他们能获得其他形式保护。

这份裁决意见书由美国大法官阿利托（Samuel Alito）撰写，有6名大法官抱持同意，其余3名自由派大法官持反对意见。
