Science Just Found a Way to Clean Your Blood of Microplastics

A clinical study from biotech firm Circulate Health has successfully demonstrated that therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) can remove microplastics from human blood. In trials, the intensive clinical procedure—which separates plasma containing the contaminants and replaces it with a sterile solution—cut microplastic concentrations in patients by half. While further controlled trials are needed to link microplastics directly to chronic diseases, this represents the first medical technique capable of reducing their presence in the body.
