European operators to get bulk of mobile satellite spectrum, EU says

The European Commission announced that it will reserve the bulk of the region's 2GHz mobile satellite spectrum for European operators starting next year, following the expiry of current licenses. One-third of the spectrum will be dedicated to government and military security use, integrating with the EU's upcoming IRIS2 satellite array, while the remaining two-thirds will be split equally between commercial EU and non-EU operators.
