India Formally Bans Non-Compliant CCTV Cameras Over Cybersecurity Risks
India has activated a strict new security framework (STQC) that prohibits the sale of internet-connected CCTV cameras that do not use trusted silicon and encrypted firmware. The regulations, which took full effect on April 1, 2026, require manufacturers to disclose the country of origin for all chipsets and components to prevent unauthorized remote access. Industry leaders, including Qubo CEO Nikhil Rajpal, state that the ban on non-compliant imports and inventory will allow domestic firms to compete fairly while securing critical infrastructure and private homes.
