Arizona congressional candidate Bernadette Greene-Placentia recounts the moments when she came to after her sexual assault on Aug. 14. She says she was knocked unconscious and raped while she was repairing campaign signs overnight in Sun City. Greene-Placentia did not immediately come forward. She says she felt embarrassed and angry. She says she decided to speak publicly when she realized she was telling voters she would advocate for them, when she was not doing so for herself. "I've always considered myself a very strong person, and I hate that somebody used their physical strength to take that," she told the Associated Press. @AP

美国亚利桑那州民主党国会议员候选人格林·普拉岑蒂亚（Bernadette Greene Placentia）向媒体透露，称在修复受损的竞选标语期间，遭到两名男子袭击并性侵，警方表示事件正在进行调查。

格林·普拉岑蒂亚10月7日接受当地报章《凤凰城新时报》（Phoenix New Times）访问表示，她在今年8月14日在太阳城（Sun City）修复竞选标语期间，突然被两名男子袭击，苏醒后发现其中一人压在她身上对她进行侵犯。

她其后表示，事件发生后曾感到难堪而未有立即报案，直至事件发生约两周后，向警方报案，她接受《纽约时报》访问，指她竞选承诺促使她勇敢站出来，并思考如果自己回避了为其他性侵受害者发声的机会，又怎能实践为所有选民奋战的承诺。

纽约时报其后向当地马里科帕县（Maricopa County）警局进行查询，警局发言人莫耶（Dave Moyer）表示调查仍在进行中，并拒绝作进一步评论。

于同选区竞选的共和党候选人哈马德（Abraham Hamadeh）则发表声明，敦促相关部门彻底调查这些严重指控，包括搜查事发时间及地点所有的监控录影，并表示任何美国公民都不能在自己的社区成为受害者。
