New York City Mayor Mamdani said he spent two hours on the phone with President Trump and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin to negotiate for the release of the man who was shot by ICE agents on Thursday, but those negotiations were unsuccessful. Mamdani also said a 5-year-old was inside the car at the time of the shooting. DHS said in a statement that officers were conducting a targeted enforcement operation to arrest a man from the Dominican Republic who they allege was living in the United States illegally.

A man has been shot and injured by a federal ICE agent in New York City with a five-year-old child in the backseat of the car, prompting Mayor Zohran Mamdani to repeat calls for ICE to be abolished in the city. An immigration officer fired seven rounds while arresting the 28-year-old man, who has had two prior arrests in New York City, according to the Police Department. He survived the shooting and is being treated for injuries. Six people have been killed by federal immigration agents since President Trump returned to office, four of them in vehicle stops. The Department of Homeland Security say the shooting happened during a ‘targeted enforcement operation’. #News #Channel4News #NewYorkCity #Mamdani #ICE
