疑似中国制造的假安全气囊，近年来流入美国二手车市场，不仅没能保护驾驶，反而可能在弹出时发生爆炸。

美国监管机构指出，目前假安全气囊已经造成10人死亡、多人重伤，但来源、流向都难以追踪、回收，只能呼吁车主自己提高警觉。

不少二手车在发生事故后，需要更换安全气囊，有些维修厂为了省钱，就会选购非原厂的廉价安全气囊。

一名韩国籍飞行学员于2023年在美国购买一辆二手雪佛兰迈锐宝轿车，结果在雨天发生交通事故，安全气囊弹出时突然爆炸，金属碎片击碎他下颚，导致他失去半边下巴和大部分牙齿，后来进行了3次手术和脸部重建才保住性命。

这些安全气囊可以从网购取得，甚至是藏在其他商品中入境，价格只有原厂的1/10。

零件标示指向中国吉林德天诺安全科技公司，但业者否认有出口美国，宣称是遭到冒名。
