据凤凰卫视援引福克斯新闻报道，若民主党人塔拉里科能够爆冷胜出，或许将成为撼动得州共和党“红色铁壁”的第一块砖。

报道称，塔拉里科目前在民调中的领先幅度，甚至超过了2018年民主党候选人挑战共和党参议员克鲁兹时的领先幅度。此外，塔拉里科的竞选团队在今年7月至9月期间筹集了6400万美元，是获得特朗普支持的共和党候选人帕克斯顿同期筹款额的三倍多。

塔拉里科在10月29日的集会上，将这场选举描述为一场“大卫对抗歌利亚”（编者注：典故出自《圣经·旧约》，常用来比喻“以弱胜强”）的较量，以此强调双方在资源上的悬殊。

此前的10月27日晚上，特朗普也在距离塔拉里科活动地点约4英里的地方，与帕克斯顿共同举办竞选集会，并特意调整了自己的活动时间，使之与塔拉里科的集会时间重叠。
